This study on interest patterns of gifted children is a sequential part of a 3-years longitudinal study on the physical and psychological development of Chinese school pupils, A sample (424 gifted and 468 normal) was drawn from the gifted children experimental class and normal class in 4 elementary schools and 3 junior middle schools in Taipei area. A questionnaire consisting 10 sets of items was administered for evaluating the two groups of pupils in three field such as school-related-interest, recreational preferences and personal-and-social interest. The result of this study indicated very clear differences between the gifted group and normal group. A majority of gifted pupils were found to be highly interested in Chinese, elementary science and so on. However, children´s interests vary according to their intellectual and maturational levels.
