Effect of Solution-Focused Brief Counseling Training on School Teachers

 The  purposes  of  this  study were : (1) to design a solution-focused  counseling training program, according to the culture  of  schools and the needs  of teachers; (2) to investigate  the learning  process  of the trainees; (3) to evaluate the effect of this solution-focused  counseling  training program;(4) to propose  some  suggestions  to  teachers’ solution-focused counseling training program. When this solution- focused training counseling  program  being  implementing , the methods of this study, including participant  observation  of  this  class, in-depth interview  of the leader,  focus  group  of  ten trainees,  collecting tape  records  of all trainees   as  counselors,  questionnaire  survey  of  the class, were executed. The main findings were: (1). This solution-focused counseling training program were got high valuation and great helpful to promote the trainees’ personal growth and ability to counsel students. (2). For these trainees, the principles and skills of the solution-focused counseling were easy to be understood and learned, but the trainees needed time to practice them fluently. (3). During different stages of learning process, the trainees had different suspicions or difficulties, and different degree of identifying the solution-focused counseling. And there was individual difference among the trainees for counseling performance. Besides, the suggestions of designing the counseling training program and future research were proposed.
