The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of reality therapy group counseling on futures traders’ negative trading emotions, trading locus of control, and trading performances. The research used quasi-experimental design and adopted “Negative Trading Emotion Scale” and “Trading Locus of Control Scale” for pre- and post-therapy evaluations. In addition, participants’ pre- and post-therapy weekly trading performances were also collected. The post-therapy evaluation was to measure 1 week trading performance and conducted a follow-up test 4 weeks after participants’ completion of the group therapy. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANCOVA and the results show that : (a) the reality therapy group counseling had significant and continuous effects on reducing experimental group’s negative emotions and enhancing their trading locus of control; (b) the reality therapy group counseling had immediate, yet not continuous effects on improving experimental group’s trading performances.
